New Delhi: At just 13 years old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is already making headlines, not just for becoming the youngest player ever bought at an IPL auction but also for his humility and ambition to learn under the legendary Rahul Dravid. Acquired by Rajasthan Royals last month, Suryavanshi is set to debut in the IPL 2025 season, coached by Dravid, a name synonymous with discipline and cricketing excellence.

“I am really glad that I am getting a chance to play in the IPL. I am excited to play under Rahul Dravid sir. More than playing in the IPL, I am happy to be coached by him,” Suryavanshi shared during an interview.

The young sensation, hailing from Bihar, has captured the nation’s attention with his performances and maturity beyond his years.

No Pressure, Just Passion

Despite the spotlight, Suryavanshi remains grounded. When asked about his strategy for the IPL, he said, “I have no strategy as such for the IPL; I will just play the way I do.”

His recent journey has been one of both personal achievement and team learning. He was a standout performer in the recently concluded U-19 Asia Cup, scoring two half-centuries, even as India narrowly missed the title, losing to Bangladesh in the final by 59 runs.

Reflecting on the final, he said, “I wouldn’t say that we didn’t do well in the tournament. There are days when the team faces a batting collapse. That’s what happened in the final with us. We are determined to do better in future tournaments.”

Bihar’s Pride and Support

Suryavanshi’s success story has been a source of pride for Bihar. The young cricketer expressed his gratitude towards the Bihar Cricket Association and its president, Rakesh Kumar, for their unwavering support. He also acknowledged the blessings and encouragement from Bihar’s Chief Minister, which further fuels his aspiration to represent India at the senior level.

“The Bihar Cricket Association helped me a lot throughout my journey. Rakesh sir supported me immensely, and I want to thank them all. The Bihar CM also wished me luck and blessed me for all my future endeavors,” said Suryavanshi.

Future Aspirations

With a promising IPL debut on the horizon and mentorship under Rahul Dravid, Suryavanshi aims to carry his form and dedication into representing India at the highest level.

“I want to represent India at the senior level in cricket,” he declared confidently.

As the IPL 2025 season approaches, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await to see this prodigy in action. With a combination of natural talent, solid mentorship, and unwavering support from his home state, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s journey is just beginning.
