New Delhi: Cricket fans, set your alarms early! The much-anticipated third Test between India and Australia at the iconic Gabba in Brisbane is set to begin on Saturday, December 14. With the series currently tied 1-1, this match is expected to be a thrilling encounter as both teams fight for dominance in the five-match series.
Early Start for Indian Fans
Unlike the Perth and Adelaide Tests, which began at 7:50 AM IST and 9:30 AM IST respectively, the Gabba Test will kick off much earlier for Indian viewers. The toss is scheduled at 5:20 AM IST, followed by the first ball at 5:50 AM IST (10:20 AM local time).
The schedule for the day’s play is as follows:
- 1st Session: 5:50 AM to 7:50 AM IST
- 2nd Session: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM IST
- 3rd Session: 10:50 AM to 12:50 PM IST (can extend to 1:20 PM IST if required).
Rain forecasts may also lead to extended play, with sessions running up to 2:30 PM IST if overs are lost due to interruptions.
Series at a Crucial Juncture
The series so far has been an intense battle, with India delivering a commanding 295-run victory in Perth before Australia retaliated with a 10-wicket win in the pink-ball Test at Adelaide. The Gabba, known for its pace-friendly pitch and lively conditions, now sets the stage for a decisive third match.
Weather Watch
Weather forecasts for Brisbane suggest rain interruptions on all five days of the Test. Should rain curtail play, the match officials have made provisions to either start earlier or extend play on subsequent days to compensate for lost overs.
Anticipation Builds
With the red-ball cricket tradition returning for this Test, fans can expect an intense battle between bat and ball. The Gabba’s early start times also offer an opportunity for Indian cricket enthusiasts to enjoy the game over a morning cup of coffee.
